#SWChat Questions & Answers
Q: What is a Tweet Chat?
A: A tweet chat is more than an organized chaos tweet session. Tweet chats are simply a way to get tweeps (people who tweet) together at a determined time to talk about a pre-determined subject via Twitter (for more information on Tweet Chats, check out Pam Moore's fantastic blog post on Tweet Chat - Tips for Moderators, Participants and Guests).
Q: What is all the fuss about Tweet Chats?
A: Maybe it's the conversational topics? or the new social relationships you create? or the knowledge sharing and learning? or maybe it's the fact that all participants are equal (no hierarchical structure) allowing everyone to have a voice? Actually it's all these and they are FUN !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Q: Can anyone join #SWChat?
A: Yes. The more people that join, the better the experience
Q: Are there any rules of etiquette to #SWChat
A: Yes
- Just prior to the event it is recommended that you inform your followers that you are attending a Tweet Chat for the next hour and that they may see a big increase in their stream
- During the event:
- respect one another's opinion's
- be polite at all times, even if you disagree with someone
- listen twice as much as you tweet
- if someone makes a great point, ReTweet (RT) it
- look out for the moderator's tweets as discussion points can change
- have fun !!!!!
Q: What tool should I use to attend #SWChat?
A: My personal preference is the Chattagged tool designed by Steve Woodruff, but you can use Hootsuite (web app) or Tweetdeck (client app) and add a column called #swchat. You can also use www.twebevent.com/swchat
Q: Can I just watch (lurk) rather than participate?
A: Sure. Just add a column, in your application of choice, for the hashtag #SWChat
Q: Can I propose specific topics for #SWChat?
A: Absolutely. If you have a suggestion then send a tweet to @davidchris
