ABOUT
I'm passionate about social media in business. Why?
Because of the possibilities.
I have been working in the social media space now for the last four of my thirteen years at Oracle where I head up the EMEA Social Networking & Business Collaboration (SNBC) programme along with leading one of the executive programmes and Content / Portal Management.
Building the SNBC programme from vision to reality has taken me on a journey of great social discovery. A journey which has made me realise that social media is about people and the cultural change in user adoption cannot be under estimated or ignored. Even with the best social technologies in the world, I found that if your audience are not engaging with them they become redundant costing time, money and a lot of frustration.
Engage your audience with social media and the possibilities are endless. But to do so you need to address the paradigm shift in culture required for successful adoption. Make this part of your strategy and create true enterprise collaboration.
This is what I do.
My approach has seen teams reduce their email traffic by at least 50% whilst increasing their productivity levels, improving collaboration and enhancing overall effectiveness. No additional headcount had been required and all training was done remotely.
So before you buy / implement the latest social technologies ask yourself:
"does the technology really meet the needs of my business?" (not does my business needs fit the technology)
"are my users ready?"
"how do I transition smoothly from traditional to social?"
These are some of the questions that need to be part of your enterprise collaboration strategy and this is where I can help having gone through the experience myself.
I also enjoy speaking at conferences and company events where I am able to express my passion creatively for social media in business and inspire others to evolve how they communicate and collaborate.
I am always on the look out for new collaborative partnerships or knowledge sharing opportunities, so connect with me and lets see where the door of possibility will take us.
warmest regards, David Christopher
